Katatonia to Tour North America???

Jesse from Daylight Dies posted in a thread on the Katatonia board saying:

This tour is NOT CONFIRMED. It shouldn't have been announced at this stage.

But damn this will kick ass if it is confirmed!!!

And I agree with you David, open for them in Toronto!!! ( If they end up coming to Toronto. )

This will be an amazing tour to see.

That would be amazing if this show ended up happening- whether or not we were invited to play. I am a huge moonspell fan.

Today I just picked up my first ever Katatonia cd, and I am actually really getting into it, which is surprising, because I don't really like other Katatonia stuff I have heard. It's a single called "For funerals to come...". Does anyone know which of their other albums are similar to this?

I really like old stuff, never heard anything after Brave Murder Day though.

Jessica you should also get:
Dance of December Souls
Brave Murder Day (has been re-release w/ the For funerals to come... EP)

Yeah, if you like "For Funerals to Come", then you want to pick up "Dance of December's Souls". It sounds similar to the sound I think you're looking for and quite unlike anything they've done in the past few albums. Also, I suggest you listen to "Brave Murder Day". Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth does the majority of the vocals and it's just a beautiful album. Personally, I have every song they've ever released and like them all, both the old and new sound.

And if this tour happens, then that'd be amazing. I might even have to visit Toronto to see WoY.

For me personally, nothing they've done (that I've heard) surpasses their "Jhva Elohim Meth...". "Without God" stands for one of my all time classic blackish metal "moments" if you know what I mean.

I am god
Creator of life
I am god
Enchanter of death

Toe curling stuff, that is!

That, and Blackheim was one of the cooler people to be in touch with back in those days. I hope the years and style shifts haven't changed him in that respect.
