kayo dot wikipedia!

Wonder if that Burzumite is the same one that posts here . . . Hmmmm?!

Yeah, it was me. I needed someone to clean up, I don't know their "standard format" and all that.

okay, I incorporated some Yusef Lateef stuff into the History section. Really, we should make a section just about the music, with information about each track on CotE and miscellaneous info (such as how Byron wrote the lyrics but did not appear on the album, etc.), and include the Lateef stuff there.

we should also have a "former members" section. and we really need to write a MOTW entry and put some of the MOTW stuff under there.

is there a way to incorporate the Hampshire/Toby reference into the Yusef Lateef wikipedia entry? there is no existing "musicians influenced by Yusef" type section, and I don't know if Kayo Dot should intrude on the proper History section.

the yusef thing is no big deal. i don't really use much of what i learned from him very often, and besides he has taught hundreds, maybe thousands of students, and many of them had a deeper reationship with him than i ever did.

the cover for Bath featured a desert with an array of signs along a path, suggesting someone was "leaving their body map"...

I don't know about this. I would be hesitant to assign a subjective interpretation to something in a reference entry such as this. Especially when it *may* feature clues to the puzzle on the two albums - you tell someone it's a "desert" authoritatively and you take something away from them. You tell them that it "suggests" something and it takes something away from the individual's own interpretation.

Their music contained elements from many different genres including sludge/doom metal, death metal, and jazz.

I was under the impression that members of the group repeatedly said there wasn't anything 'jazz' about Maudlin of the Well.

yes Helm, true; if you read Yusef Lateef's wikipedia entry, you'll see he shies away from the "jazz" label, too. perhaps a similar caveat should be added.

yeah, Toby, maybe we shouldn't intrude on Lateef's page. I do think the connection is interesting enough to be present on the Kayo Dot page, though. and I wish there was a wikipedia entry on autophysiopsychic music. care to write one?

I agree with you about the album cover thing--I am trying to figure out the Fair Use issues on the album covers so maybe we can upload the two covers as images and have a much less detailed written description, allowing viewers to see for themselves.

like I said, inky, that stuff all has to be collapsed into music.

i looked at the history and whoever created the kayo dot entry, like two months ago, also creating a shit-ton of other weird entries at the same time (including, apparently, a "mia matsumiya" entry), and the "toby driver and kayo dot" article got put up for possible deletion as a "vanity" entry! but looks like in the end they decided the band entry was a good add?

i kind of wish wikipedia was more open to indie bands being catalogued--the inter-linking system could make it really great, better than allmusic when coupled with wikipedia's other features.

I didn't know there was so many demos.

I'm sure the edit I made to the israel thing is just going to annoy you further too.
