Last I heard he was on the mend and even making music again. That was over a year ago though, not sure how he is now.

I think this dude is seriously underappreciated by the death metal community, honestly I didn't realize how amazing he was until I had been listening to Carcass for some years. His double bass work is so tasteful, and he never played more or less than was absolutely perfect for the song.
