British metal with a guanaco soul
=================================

Salvador's Dismal Gale ex-guitarist, Chris Van Hayden, as he is known among the rock scene, joined the guys from Biomechanical, an English band representing the modern metal genre, who has left people impressed with the sonic complexity of their creations.

From that band Dismal Gale - with whom he played melodic death metal covers on guitar, which he started playing in San Miguel at 6 years old - « El Chele », Chris, as his friends call him, joined Biomechanical, a new English band who made a sensation with their way of creating rock that their peers define as progressive symphonic thrash.
Chris Van Hayden is a nom de guerre for his artistic work, but for his closest friends and family, he is Christopher Alexander Hayden Santos, son of an Usulutecan mother and an English father. Born in Italy and having lived part of his childhood in England, he states that he feels he's a Salvadorian, proud to represent local talents among the highest level of European metal.
« I quit my first career as a pilot for this music, even though doing something relevant and above all original needs a lot of work» he said to Fama during an interview from London, where he dedicates himself fully to music, giving private guitar lessons and playing in his own rock band Chaosgenesis.
Of these three countries where he lived important parts of his life, El Salvador is the most important to him. From a musical point of view first, because Dismal Gale started him and his long time friend, guitarist Rex Fernàndez, who is one of his major influences : « I learnt everything from Rex, from his creativity, and if he hadn't influenced me so much I maybe wouldn't have joined Biomechanical », he assured.
From a family point of view, his tightest bonds are in Cuscateclasian earth, his wife being Salvadorian and his son being born in Salvador. Nevertheless, he admits that he had to move back to England in order to reach his musical dreams, as he thinks that Salvador doesn't have the infrastructure you need to stand out.
Since 2003, Biomechanical have released two albums : « Eight moons » and « The empire of the worlds ». This year, « El Chele » Chris will be part of the European tour for the third album, entitled « Cannilalised » and do what is needed to be part of the band and record the songs from the fourth album. He has been rehearsal Biomechanical songs since november, and gave his first gig in december, a challenge that he successfully lived up to, he comments.
« The technical aspects of the songs are difficult, it's better than what I imagined it would be. It's going pretty well, and I am lucky to be in one of my favorite bands » he said.
In Salvador, Chris's achievement is already celebrated by people who hope he will follow the footsteps of other Salvadorians successful in the world of rock like drummer Peter Sandoval from Morbid Angel, comments Roberto Burgos from the band Dreamlore.
« He has become a national pride. We hope to share the stage with him someday », says Bur
