Kerry King sucks. Not because of this but he has composed the worst songs of Slayer and his solos are some of the worst ever. I mean, if you can't solo, don't solo.

slayer's riffs are awesome but the solos are just plain lame.
kerry thinks he's a great guitarist but he ain't...
and plus he loves himself a bit too much for my liking.

Anyone ever hear the classic interview with Mustaine from early 84 sometime after the very first Megadeth gigs? When Kerry was filling in for like 2 or 3 shows.
(btw, Ive got some GREAT pics from one of those shows)
Anyway,
Mustaine says "we had this guy Kerry King from Slayer, he says I influence the shit out of him, but he wants to play in Slayer, which I think is quite poserish myself" LOL

The funny thing is they were friends when they were younger, and Kerry King's dad is a Sheriff and didn't like Dave... But they used to hang out before all the Slayer/Megadeth even existed...

And yes, they like poking fun at eachother thru the media...

I love how if you mention a band here in any context, someone will tell you how much they hate them. But when King does it everyone talks about what an asshole he is.

I actually really like Megadeth and have tons of respect for Dave Mustaine. He is a far superior musician to anyone from Slayer or Metallica. That interview was done WAY before Dave ever thought about poking fun of Kerry through the media. it was just a couple of days after their very first gig.
The interview was done while Mustaine was at work.
I dont think he realized it was being tape recorded over the phone becuase he sort of kisses his bosses ass during the call LOL
If youve never heard it, its a CLASSIC.

They used to hang out as teenagers from what I understand. So they've been poking fun at each other since before they were even well known.

I'm not a musician so I have no idea how difficult or how easy King's solos are...but I like the fuckers! Slayer songs are pure chaos and aggression. The solos may not be artistic masterpieces, but I think they usually compliment the tone of the song. Andreas Kisser from Sepultura plays weird ass solos too. They're original, strange, chaotic, etc all at the same time.

Mille and Jeorg from Kreator had the most awesome strange, chaotic, wild solos on Terrible Certainty. That album fucking rips! Too bad they'll only play the title track on this tour.....bummer
