Kevin Dubrow dead!!!!

From Blabbermouth:

Confirmed: QUIET RIOT Singer KEVIN DUBROW Dead At 52 - Nov. 26, 2007 QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali has confirmed the passing of the group's singer, Kevin DuBrow, at the age of 52. In an e-mail to Spain's The Metal Circus, which had requested a comment from Banali on the rumors of DuBrow's death, the drummer wrote, "I can't even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow." UPDATE: The same statement can now be found on Frankie Banali's official web site.

Michael Politz of The Vegas Eye reported earlier today that DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25. According to Politz, DubRow — whom Politz calls "one of my closest friends" — recently celebrated his 52nd birthday in New Orleans "where he ate great food and even caught THE CULT at The House of Blues."

Although the band has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, bassist Kelly Garni, who was one of the founding members of QUIET RIOT, has posted the following message on the Randy Rhoads (late QUIET RIOT/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist) web site RandyRhoads.tk:

"I ask this to all of you not only for myself but for other friends and family. I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I'm sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time. I am already within hours of this having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board and now is not the time for that. I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will effect us all. So please, until then, be patient. All details and other pertinate info will be passed on to you here when it becomes available to me. Thank you."

They are currently trying to determine the cause of death. I was shocked at this news. I was like, "What The Hell?!" Sad. R.I.P. man.

I probably should have gone to see them when they played the Vernon Hills summerfest this year, since it was only 10 minutes from where I live.

But I was like "eh, it's just Quiet Riot and I only want to see them do 2 songs"

Oops.

Yeah, I mean I am sad he died, but I have zero respect for them musically.

Their two biggest singles were covers. Granted, these were obviously the decision of the record label.

I never heard their really early stuff when Randy Rhodes was in the band, though I can't say I really care to.

Sure, they can boast that at one point in time, they were the most succesful metal band from a commercial standpoint.

As we all know, that certainly does not mean they were the best.

I think Accept and Maiden would like to have a word with anyone who in 1984 would claim that QR were the best metal band that year

I love Metal Health/Bang Your Head and enjoy the other two covers, but just never got into them beyond that. I certainly respect them and am glad that they kick-started metal being a huge commercial force in the music industry during the 80's.

I'm probably the biggest Quiet Riot fan here (you might notice several Quiet Riot items in the other thread about collectibles), loved those guys and having met Kevin a few times he was just a really cool guy. Hopefully the death wasn't a drug overdose or anything like that....and not sure what people have against these guys musically, Kevin was a hell of a singer, Carlos could rock the guitar, Rudy is one of the best bassists around and Frankie is a solid drummer...and together those guys could write some catchy ass music.

you would think he was the second coming of Christ on Blabbermouth. Last week he was getting goofed on by th world and this week he is a legend????huh? this stuff cracks me up.

People say things they feel they have to say.
Same thing happened when Dimebag got murdered.
Sure, that was extremely tragic, and shocking, considering something like that could happen at ANY show we all go to.

That being said, I am not going to all of a sudden ball-wash Dimebag or Pantera.

Yep, typical blabbermouth. Reminds me of Dimebag and how he all of a sudden became popular after his death with the 12-16 year olds. :erk:

I adore Dehumanizer actually.

Well... Awesome. :headbang:

Yeah, actually, I have heard more positive comments about Dehumanizer than negative ones, though Pate. You definitely talk to more people online than anyone, so you see things from a different angle!
