Rock announced his run on Wednesday (July 12) with a new campaign web site, although the revelation was met with some skepticism over the fact that campaign merch was being sold on the site through a Warner Bros. In a statement titled "Once again the press is wrong," Rock insisted that he was running, writing, "First of all, I've got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC! Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I'm planning on putting out music during mine… It's not a hoax, it's a strategy and marketing 101!" Later on Thursday (July 13), Rock released two new songs and videos, "Greatest Show On Earth" and "Po-Dunk". The "Greatest Show On Earth" clip ends by promoting the "Greatest Show On Earth Tour", which will hit the U.S. in 2018 — the same time that Rock would have to be campaigning if he's serious about his run for Senate.
