On another blistering night as lighting filled the sky, fans queued for the second gig at The Rock Den for another night of full blown Rock.
First up were local Hardcore/Metal band "KILL THE KING" featuring Samuel on Vox, Tim and Jonny on Guitars, Perry/Bass and Geoff C Oram/Drums. The 5 young lads all in their teens ripped through a frenzy of songs and although there were a few technical problems with guitar strings and power packs the band held their nerve and pumped the crowd with "Regicide", "Endless Animation", "Warfare", "Kingdom of Lies", "Across Oceans" and "Lonely Road". The lads will be back in 2014.
Next up were Northamptons Spiral Dive who arrived too late to sound check, but with 12 years behind them they proved they didn't need it. Andy Blackman is a true frontman who also packs a punch with his rytham guitar, Tony Coleman an awesome lead guitarist who not only fretted his way through every song but bounced his way around the stage. Completing the very tight unit were Gazz/Drums and Simon/Bass performing on an hour's setlist with a band that should be sharing stages with the likes of Metallica and Priest. Spiral Dive have also been requested to return to The Rock Den in 2014.
As if the night couldn't get any better, Sansara entered the fray, playing in Hatfield as part of their Mini-UK Tour. Sansara were in fact the very first band to contact Cllr Dean Archer when he decided to create "The Rock Den" back in February so this gig had been in the making along time and the Hatfield crowd were not disappointed. Tom Sawyer led from the front with Sam Huges/Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, Simon Holmes/Bass/Backing Vocals and Mike "Justin Bieber" Rigler Drums/Backing Vocals. The Bournemouth band opened their set with "Lost and Found" followed by "Broken", "Takin Over" and "Pacify", the 10 song set list taken from their two EP's also featured "Let it Burn" and "Deride" before the final song "Save Me". But "The Rock Den" isnt so easily pleased; chants for "we want more" cried out amongst the crowd and 3 encores followed before they were finally allowed to leave the stage. Suffice to say, Sansara have also been asked to return in 2014.
The next gig is on August 31st with another awesome line-up; Bloodstock stars from Biggleswade, Scar City, WGC's own "Trial by Fire" and Power/Metal band "Intense" from Hampshire
