KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach says he "became completely addicted" to HBO's hit fantasy series "Game Of Thrones" after his band recently finished recording a new song that will be featured on the upcoming "Game Of Thrones" mixtape.Speaking to Dave "Higgo" Higgins of Australia's long-running rock station Triple M, Leach said (hear audio below): "It's crazy, man. I've always heard of the TV show, but I don't watch a lot of TV. I tend to be a documentary nerd. And I have a steady diet of 'The Simpsons' and 'Family Guy'; that's pretty much my speed. I wanna laugh and forget stuff, and then I wanna learn stuff; that's kind of my thing."He continued: "When we got asked to do it, I started doing my research and watching some of the stuff. And while I was writing the song, I didn't really know what I was talking about. But [the show producers] give you a concept, they give you key words that you should use and sort of give you a storyline. And it was fun for me to work in that capacity, 'cause I'm used to just coming up with stuff on my own off the spot. And they had a lot of cool trigger words, so it was interesting to see that come together. And then start to watch the show, and then have it turn into
like, once we were done with the song, and it was all said and done, I watch the entire four seasons in, like, a week. [Laughs] I became completely addicted and enthralled in it."Leach added: "So we are all really stoked on it, and I think it's one of our better songs. And that should be seeing the light of day through the show, I think, in April. And then we're gonna start playing it out live, I think, 'cause we're all pretty stoked on it."Jesse also spoke about the upcoming KILLSWITCH ENGAGE documentary that will tell the story of the singer's return to the band in January 2012 after a decade-long absence. The label finally was, like, 'Hey, you guys wanna tell your story?' How I came back to the band and what it's been like touring the world. So we're piecing together footage from all over the world that I've taken, footage from differnt festivals that we've played, and then sort of getting some interviews with people and some behind-the-scenes [footage] and then I think we're gonna be putting together a pretty interesting documentary to tell our story of the band and myself and the reunion and all that. And we've actually footage of our first show back together in its entirety, so we're going through that and trying to figure out what to show and what not to show. It's a massive undertaking, but the wheels are finally starting to turn."Leach's first solo DJ and spoken-word tour runs from January 15 through January 24 in Australia.Leach, a passionate music fan who also writes new album reviews for The Talkhouse, will showcase his DJ skills, mixing samples and splicing songs together while playing with various musical sub-genres and styles, ranging from punk, metal, crust, doom and hardcore to hip-hop, drum and bass.
