KORN played a brand new song called "Rotting In Vain" live for the first time during their concert Saturday (July 16) at the Chicago Open Air festival at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. An official stream of the studio version of "Rotting In Vain" will reportedly be released on July 22. The track will appear on KORN's upcoming twelfth album, which is tentatively due this fall. The CD will feature a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor. KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told Metal Hammer magazine: "We have Corey singing on one track and it's going to be a fan favorite because he really lets loose." The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2013's "The Paradigm Shift" marks the second KORN album since the return of guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. Shaffer added: "On a heaviness scale of one to 10, with 10 being the 1994 self-titled, this album is a definite nine. When Head came back to us on the last record, it was our way of getting the wheels greased. Now everything is well-oiled and the machine works really well." Welch recently spoke in detail about the sound of the new album. "I want a record like every song is just like, live, live, moshpit, jumping up and down, and so this is a record to me that the intensity of KORN is back, and the live energy," he told The Pulse Of Radio. "Raw energy is there. And Jonathan [Davis, singer] is just grabbing his soul and tearing it open for people to see, and I think the fans are really gonna feel it." KORN is co-headlining with ROB ZOMBIE on the "Return Of The Dreads" tour this summer, beginning on July 19 in Englewood, Colorado. That trek winds down on September 3 in Bristow, Virginia. KORN will also hit the road this fall with co-headliners BREAKING BENJAMIN for the "Nocturnal Underground Tour", which will kick off on September 24 in Fargo, North Dakota and run through late October.
