KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will be forced to miss some of the band's Russian shows with SOULFLY after being diagnosed with kidney stones. He wrote last night on his Facebook page: "I'm in hospital for a few days. So sorry, Russia, I can't be at a few shows. I have kidney stone. Thank you SO MUCH for your understanding, well wishes, prayers and love. I am very touched by your hearts in my situation." 19-year-old JR Bareis, who plays guitar for Welch's LOVE & DEATH project, filled in for Brian at KORN's May 19 gig in Krasnoyarsk. Bareis also acts as Welch's guitar tech while KORN is out on the road. Remaining dates on KORN's Russian tour: May 20 - Novosibirsk, Russia at Fairgrounds May 22 - Yekaterinburg, Russia at URALETs May 23 - Ufa, Russia at Ufa Arena May 24 - Kazan, Russia at Palace Sports May 26 - Voronezh, Russia at City Event Hall May 27 - Rostov-on-Don, Russia at Vertol Expo May 28 - Moscow, Russia at Basket-Hall Welch left KORN in 2005, got sober and embraced Christianity, saying that as a single father he did not want his daughter around the rock and roll lifestyle. "The last two years I was in KORN, I partied non-stop and started doing speed every day," he said. "I got so addicted that I got scared. I tried to go to rehab, but that didn't work. No one could help me. Then I ended up seeing if Jesus was real, and He instantly took the drugs away. He revealed Himself to me and gave me the strength. Once I figured that out, I knew I was accountable to God." Welch pursued a solo career for several years before rejoining KORN onstage in 2012 at a festival. He reunited with the group permanently last year and recorded his first album with them in 10 years, "The Paradigm Shift".
