Cassandra from Australia's Silver Tiger Media recently conducted an interview with frontman Mille Petrozza of veteran German/Finnish thrash metallers KREATOR. You can listen to the full chat using the SoundCloud widget below. A few excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). On his favorite songs from the band's new studio album, "Gods Of Violence": Mille: "I like the title track a lot and 'Satan Is Real', of course. [Laughs] I like the whole album." On how he continually keeps KREATOR's sound fresh in light of the fact the band has been releasing albums for over three decades: Mille: "I don't know how we do this. We just go in there and write songs and try to not repeat ourselves, of course. It's not very conscious. It's like 'Okay, we've done this before,' then we skip it." On how KREATOR chooses songs for their live setlist: Mille: "We try to mix between old and new stuff, really. Trying it out and trying it in a live situation and treat it like one big song, really, is how we do it." On his favorite KREATOR song to play live: Mille: "I like the whole setlist. To me, like I said, if I got a new setlist, it's one long song that I play. I prefer some songs. The songs we play live are my favorites otherwise we wouldn't play them." On how he feels when other bands cite KREATOR as an influence: Mille: "It's amazing. I'm always overwhelmed by the fact that there's people out there who like what we do. You should never take that for granted as a band. It's a gift." On his relationship with Danish/American rockers VOLBEAT: Mille: "They're nice guys. We've been friends forever. We've been friends when the band was not very big. They're big metalheads, so they always invite their favorite artists and I was one of them. Yeah, we've been friends ever since. I'm going to play a song with them this summer." On having Polish death metal veterans VADER as the support band on their Australian tour: Mille: "I love VADER. They're a great band. We've been touring with them many times. This is about the fourth time we've toured with VADER. I'm looking forward [to it]." On whether he has any bands he prefers to tour with: Mille: "EXODUS, for example. We like touring with EXODUS. We like touring with VADER, DEATH ANGEL, ARCH ENEMY, they're one of our favorites. They're really nice people. We've made many friends in the metal scene." On what Petrozza likes to listen to when he's at home: Mille: "To be honest, I listen to all kinds of music. I listen to metal music, I also listen to a lot of alternative, punk rock, hardcore, you name it. It could be anything from Lana Del Rey to CANNIBAL CORPSE." On whether KREATOR will do another album after "Gods Of Violence": Mille: "Yes, we will, but not yet. [Laughs]" KREATOR is continuing to tour in support of "Gods Of Violence", which entered the official chart in Germany at position No. 1. The cover artwork for the album was created by renowned artist Jan Meininghaus, who also made the limited-edition artwork for KREATOR's previous effort, 2012's "Phantom Antichrist", and has lent his talents to bands like BOLT THROWER, ACCEPT and OVERKILL in the past.
