Seattle police has confirmed that it is reviewing Kurt Cobain's death 20 years after the NIRVANA frontman's passing. Although Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home on April 8, 1994, it is believed that he died approximately three days earlier. Conspiracy theorists have claimed for the past two decades that Cobain was murdered, but investigators have not reopened the case since the time of his death. According to Seattle's KIRO 7, police developed four rolls of film that had been sitting in their vault for 20 years. The film was processed by the King County Sheriff's Office photo lab under "high security." The images reportedly show a clearer view than previous photos of the scene, but investigators decided not to reopen the case after viewing the photographs. KIRO 7 has tweeted a photo (see below) of a heroin kit that was found next to Cobain's body at the death scene. In addition, the station has posted a new video interview with Seattle Police Detective Michael Ciesynski in which he explains why the police department only recently developed new crime-scene photos. "I was requested to look at the case because I'm a cold-case detective because it is 20 years later and it's a high-media case," Ciesynski said. "And there were always these conspiracy theorists out there and so I was asked to look at the case and review it." Detective Renee Witt, spokeswoman for the Seattle Police Department, told Reuters that Ciesynski began sorting through evidence in recent months from the investigation into Cobain's death and he found three or four rolls of film in an evidence vault from the case and had them developed. "There are no new developments, no new twists or turns in the case," Witt said. "He came upon this film, and that's pretty much it. It is still a suicide." Cobain's body was first found by electrician Gary Smith. "I noticed something on the floor and I thought it was a manikin," Smith told KIRO 7 in 1994. "So I looked a little closer and geez, that's a person. I looked a little closer and I could see blood and an ear and a weapon laying on his chest." NIRVANA were recently announced as 2014 inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with KISS, Peter Gabriel, HALL & OATES, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens. The induction ceremony will take place on April 10 in Brooklyn, New York. That same day will be declared Nirvana Day by the Washington town of Hoquaim, located just four miles from Kurt Cobain's hometown of Aberdeen.
