Found this LP today by a band called Labyrinth released on Minotaur Records in 1985. I can't find anything on this band but it looks like they were from the Midwest United States. All I can find is the album artwork and tracklistings.

The reason this caught my eye is because of the album's final track. It was titled "The Bridge of Khazad-Dum (Mithrandir vs. The Balrog)" With a song about LOTR it had to be good right? Well I'll find out soon as I just started spinning the record 10 minutes ago.

It's pretty good hard rock/metal similar to maybe UFO or Fifth Angel or Saxon. Very nice guitar work and technical solos.

Anybody know what became of this band?

EDIT: The LOTR song was an instrumental (of course)...but the album overall was pretty good.

I am the singer/guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter for Labyrinth. I was wondering where you got your hands on a recording. It's nice to know there are still some floating around. The instrumental that you referenced has melodic themes associated with the characters of that chapter of LOTR and is relatively elaborate. There is Orc drums at the beginning, a Balrog theme, a Gandolf theme, etc. Made sense in my head, although this was long before the movies, so it was a tough sell at the time. I have done much more recording since, although fame has eluded me. I have kept in touch with the other guys on the recording and we flirted with a reunion, but I questioned if there was enough interest, so it's still on the back burner.

A friend of mine who played in a few Chicago area bands was in a band called Labyrinth probably in the mid 80's, I'm guessing? Was there a guitar player named Greg in your band at any time? Just wondering if it's the same band....
