Maybe this was already asked, forgive if it was, but I happen to think the band name "Laceration" is an excellent name for a Doom/Metal band. Why was the name changed?:zombie:

That name definitely had more of a thrash/death metal feel to it (hence the bazillion other Lacerations out there who basically played that style!) Plus the fact that the guys in the band I'm sure associated the name in their own minds with the previous thrashier style of music they played. Novembers Doom sure fit the mood of the music much better, in my opinion.

Besides, a name is just a name. I heard that "Job for A Cowboy" band lately, and I thought they were pretty damn good, but they have an awful name!! LOL But who cares?

I agree with Larry. I think Laceration generates more of a thrash / early death metal vibe.

Speaking of band names, do you think the guys in Kreator or Katatonia cringed when Korn came out????

Thanx Larry for the explanation. From a bands perspective maybe the band name is not important. Coming from an avid music buyer, a band's name(especially a band I've not heard) can grab my attention. "Laceration" is a word that sounds viscious. What the fuck, man, I can visualize a laceration in my mind. Even used as a verb sounds cool; If he touches her again, I will lacerate this squirrely fuck!!

I agree with what you're saying, and it's exactly why we changed the name. Back in the day, Novembers Doom was MUCH more original and thought provoking then Laceration, and wanted people to be drawn to the name for that very reason. These days, there's a million bands with similar sounding names to ours.

Thanx Paul for your explanation. At the end of the day, the only thing that truly matters is the music contained within. And Novembers Doom is a cool name, but more important the music is awesome and brilliant death/doom. Anyway, I still dig the name "Laceration." Another real cool name for a band is "Shroud of Bereavement." I also dig the band name-"Wolves in the Throne Room." Enables me to visualize.
