What do you native speakers call your friends in your area when grilling and cracking open some cold ones? I always thought "lad" is just weird. As I understand mate is the australian thing.

Depends on the area mostly, I assume.

Yours truly,

O.

P.S.: Male thread fuck yah patriarchy.

Oh btw, we can have a really gay bro talk in this thread, pass me the cold one baby brozef. Dooooood chill the fuck out wassup maaaaan.

Wanna hit the gym babe?

Dude, man or bro in that order depending on how tight we are

I might also call them fag or pussy if we're REALLY close but that's extremely rare lol

I refer to my friends by their respective forum handles.

Though 4chan's auto-censor of fam has gotten me into the habit of referring to people as senpai sometimes.

Man.

Possibly honey if I'm speaking to a non relative female. Don't know where I picked that up but it happens. I've never had anyone go all CISapocalypse on me for saying it to them.

aside from the occasional utterance of 'dude' or 'man' i only ever use any of these ironically, along with broski, broheim, homedog, my jiggaboo, chiefyweef, schnookums and my hard rocking amigo.

a local one that's used a lot here is 'youth'. 'boss' and 'bud' are also common.

I say boo or my love a lot with people I know. It depends on who I'm talking to. I also use "sunshine" with my students a lot too.

I use Dude And man from that list occasionally too.

Oi cunt gets heavy usage, but more generally I say man a lot.

I never say mate unless I'm trying to be condescending, for some reason it just never comes out of my mouth in any other context.

Pal is a good one too.

A lot of people here say champ and chief casually which is always funny.

people here say 'love' and 'shug' a lot but more than anything it's 'duck'

Baby lamb and duckie.

Man, usually, or guys for multiple. I've always felt stupid jumping on trends. The occasional Y + boy/boi added to someone's name, eg. Chrissy boi or Jasey boi.

Bro was popularised by the indigenous people here and gets very heavy usage, along with the lesser known 'cuz' (meaning cousin). At my high school people called each other 'boltz', which I assume was from the skateboarding slang.
