In a brand new interview with Yahoo! Music, LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe was asked for his opinion about the current political climate in America. "Reality has become entirely subjective," he responded. "That's why it doesn't matter what I think. I will say this. Me not voting for Trump and voting for his Democratic opponent was strictly a choice of the lesser of two evils. This is one of the worst, if not the worst, most bizarre, brutal electoral seasons I've ever seen. And I think it's been the craziest in the lifetimes of many people who are way older than me as well, you know? There were dick jokes in the primaries. They weren't metaphorically comparing penis size. They were actually doing it. This is what politics is right now. Regarding our Tweeter In Chief, people don't care about the veracity of his statements. But I think really it's a matter of kind of waiting for him to be impeached." Asked if Trump is really that dangerous, or he is just like a reality show host run amok, Blythe said: "Of course he's dangerous. Any person who is the President of the United States is dangerous. You have the codes to the nukes; that makes you a danger. And if you're the President of the United States, I don't care who you are, you've got to be a little off, because no sane person would want that job. I don't even know what to say, really, other than people need to learn to communicate with each other again on both sides of the political spectrum. We can't be a bipartisan country to the degree of severity that America has become. It just can't be that way, because nothing is going to get done." When the interviewer pointed out to Randy that Trump's presidency has been ripe with material for late night comedians, the singer said: "It would be hilarious to me if it wasn't also horrifying at the same time. You know, we have this infuriated orange bowl of sherbet in the Oval Office. If you're going to be a politician, at least be slick about it. But I don't know. Maybe he's brilliant. The way he got elected with this blitzkrieg of napalm across the misanthropic synapsis of middle America is kind of genius. We're going to make America great again? Whatever. It means nothing. I never though America was bad in the first place. But he instilled a massive amount of fear and then said, 'I am the Messiah.' So, you know, when America doesn't become great again, what's gonna happen?" At the end of 2015, Blythe made it clear that he was not impressed with then-Republican presidential hopeful Trump, saying that he would "leave America" if the the real estate magnate and former reality TV star became President Barack Obama's successor. He told Metal Insider: "I think [Trump] is going to burn himself out. I think he's going to say something so overarchingly stupid that people are finally going to be unable to accept what he's saying anymore. But I almost think he's a purposeful clown, a tool." LAMB OF GOD's tour with SLAYER and BEHEMOTH kicked off on July 12 in Bemidji, Minnesota and will run through August 20 in Phoenix, Arizona. Blythe recently told the "Sixx Sense" radio show that it will be "time to take a break for real" after the completion of LAMB OF GOD's current touring cycle and "concentrate more on writing and being at home with the family."
