I found a really thorough rig run through for LoG on Youtube.
Mesa MK4 with presence on 10 (pulled) seems way too high to me.
Also interesting is Mark has 2 MK4s and no Royal Atlantic.
I remember seeing the ads where he was saying he switched.
Seems like pure marketing from mesa getting a top endorsee to big up their new product. The interviewer catches him on this and he says they have a RA coming in a couple of days to incorporate into the rig (yeah right!)
MM then goes onto say how great the RA is but says he prefers the MK4.
....

Edit: here is the ad

Here they are with their MKV amps too :)

Not the first guy to put his name on things he dont use, not the last.

And in the end, who cares?

Use what you find works for you.

ampwise-doesn't matter as long as it sounds good, loving the Mark V, too bad that I can't afford one...

At first, I really hated his signature guitar, but the new black one with the white binding and the gold
hardware...the sex, thought about changing the shape a little bit for a more blues/rock orientated guitar.
Mahagony body, maple top, maple neck, ebony fretboard, same color sheme, but with P90s and a golden
Bigsby, that guitar would be the sex :D

So I guess they didn't stick with the Mark V's after all.....

Pretty cool to see their rundown. Have been a pretty big fan of these guys for about 13 years now.

I wonder what they do with all the extra stuff (iso cabs etc) at gigs that don't have the room to accommodate. They played locally to me a few years back and there was literally NO backstage and/or storage area except a tiny room off to the side.

Still a bit deceitful I think.
What about some super fan who saves up and buys a Royal Atlantic to get the sound then finds out the endorsement was a sham.

I tried Will's settings from the video on a re-amp today.
Expected it to be really harsh but it sounds perfect!

Also a bit weird they don't use a boost on all main rhythms. I'd think they would, judging by their tone. When I take my boost off of my Mark IV, it sounds flubby but almost tighter in a way....hard to explain.

I never use a Tube Screamer with the MK4.
It is so tight without it and sounds less dynamic with one.
I think it is because the EQ is pre gain so you can shape the sound hitting the drive circuitry then shape the tone with the graphic post drive.
Try the settings from the video and play hard and see how you get on.

I never found the need for a boost with MkIV's. If it's flubby, you're running the bass too high. You can run the bass control low and reintroduce bass with the EQ later in the signal path. Tight and punchy tones will follow.:headbang:

(pretty much what mickrich said.)

But my bass is between 1-2. Idk, maybe I need to mess with my settings a bit as I set it up when I got the TS and never really looked back. I just like how the TS turns RHY2 channel into a saturated distortion channel.

I've had a mark iv for about 6 years now... still the best amp I've ever own and will probably ever own... And I own a buttload of amps :p
I also use mine with a tubescreamer though. In Drop B with .65 gauge strings, it's pretty bad ass!

^^ Yeah I've had mine for shiiiit almost 10 years and it slays. I'm running the 6L6 and El34 combo, but lately running on Class A with the ELs.

Messed with settings a bit last night at practice. Was keeping the TS off and just switching it on for leads. It worked ok, but just something about the TS being on all the time for rhythms just sounds soooo good.

I love that amp! But never tried to use a screamer in front (except for leads).
I should probably try that; i thought the amp is super tight but u aroused my curiosity.. Could u explain a bit what the ts adds to it? (ill give it a shot soon). Also are u using different settings than u would without a ts? Figured maybe its my settings that havent aroused that curiosity but maybe with some different setting the ts will add som cool.
By the way i dont know much about the lamb of god tones and it might be difficult to experiment with tgese settings( i guess theyre using the IV on that one so the settings will probably be different for the V) but i know they use the trad (stiletto) cab and thought that would b worth mentionning as well. Big difference with the recto (like em both)
