Lance is known for singing in a traditional more operatic metal style in the mold of Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson or Geoff Tate with influences of progressive vocals like Dream Theater's James Labrie, and hard rock vocals of TNT's Tony Harnell. In 1990 Lance founded the St. Paul, Minnesota based Nightmare Records where he specializes in Progressive metal and Power Metal and has a large selection of hard rock and Christian Metal artists. He originally founded the label in order to get the music of his band Gemini out to the world.
Lance is still the owner and head of Nightmare Records and since its small inception in 1990 Nightmare has sold over 2,000,000 albums.

As if Lance doesn’t have enough on his plate he has agreed to do a special reunion after 21 plus years with his first band from Winona, Freelance, The guys will hit the stage again for one show in order to support Southern Minnesota’s flood victims.

Who is Rockin Benefits?
Rockin Benefits was formed by John Weidemann after talking with Lance King about their friends and families after the floods in August. Being they are both from the Winona area they came up with the idea of doing a benefit featuring local bands. So John came up with the name Rockin Benefits and started putting together Rockin for the Flood Victims. Along with Nightmare Records to help promote the benefit John also got out of State Sponsors Hot Pink Promotions from Arizona and Razor Sharp Promotions from Maine.
The first Rockin for the Flood Victims Benefit was held on Oct. 7th at GB Leightons Pickle Park it even made the KSTP news and featured KSTP’s own Anne Hutchinson as a guest emcee and six bands from Minneapolis, St. Cloud and Rochester. All proceeds went to help families from Minnesota City, Stockton and Rushford. John is getting ready to start working on another benefit show in the near future for a little girl born with profound hearing loss and needs Cochlear Implants to help her hear and talk something we all take for granted. If you want to raise money for a GOOD cause and want help, you can reach John at the Rockin Benefits page.

This should be an interesting one, if anyone reading this is in the area, please come out and check it out, these guys are the first band I ever wrote music with and or played on stage with,
it's been over 21 years, we'll be playing really cool but dated tunes like April Wine, Loverboy (yes Loverboy, but the cooler more obscure ones) Dokken, Thin Lizzy and fun hard rock songs of the early 80's, we only have an hour, we'll put in a couple of originals from that era that were never recorded beyond demo form if we can find and review them lol!
man I need to get studying, working on the new AVIAN album hard....payed a show with Decibel last night, only one more week............ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

THE SHOW WENT REALLY WELL,
I had a blast playing old cool stuff from APRIL WINE, DOKKEN even LOVERBOY and HONEYMOON SUITE in fact a lot of Canadian rock was represented that night, since Freelance was very into that mode at that time.

I've forgotten what it was like to play with a band of musicians that can actually sing....4 part harmonies, what a concept.

Thanks guys!!:kickass:
