Latest Mix - Allegaeon

Music reminds me a bit of nevermore with Stanne on voculars.

Hmm, I get more of a Lamb of God vibe overall cuz of the 6/8 riffing (not a good thing), but the sweeps and leads do smack of Nevermore as well, which definitely is a good thing. And the production, hot damn - I love how middy and organic the guitar tone is, what was the guitar/amp/cab/mic(s) Dave, if you don't mind me asking?

Ooh, the lick at 2:50 is SUPER Nevermore influenced - fucking awesome, and I like the groove change & solos after it. One guitarist or two? And now that I'm listening, I feel the solos might have just a bit too much mids, which slightly obscures the bite of the notes, but it's a minor quip.

Listening to "Cower Before Me" now - this one's also cool; I really like how the drummer occasionally is doing blast beats on the snare/kick but a sparse pattern on the ride (under the beginning of the first solo, for example); I've never heard that kind of blast/cymbal juxtaposition before.

These guys are SICK. The Vox sound like Jeff Walker! That's BADASS! Great fucking production too!
What's the guitar setup like?

The drums sound like they need some more "room sound" though.

jesus dave, this sounds great.
What all is going on with the lead around 2:50 on the first song?

The first part at 2:40 is just doubled and split L & R with a little flange. The next riff starts out in the center then I had him layer the second half an octave higher. I doubled the higher line (copy paste doubled, not 2 takes) and split them L & R, moved the left copy back 10ms and the right copy ahead 10ms. I use that trick all the time, mostly for vocals. I also had him give me the first note of the higher line and sustain it out with a little vibrato. Took that and flipped it backwards to fade into the octave part, again with the same stereo trick. Kinda sounds a little like feedback, I like it.

Guitars are 2 track 6505 and 2 tracks Mesa DR into a Mesa oversized > 57 > Spider > DAW. I used more of the 6505 than the Mesa which is a first for me. I think I might actually like my Peavey more than my Dual Rec now which is weird for me to say. I tried to leave the low mids intact as much as possible. I use MB compression very sparingly and kept my cuts down there on the conservative side.

I can understand the few "dry drums" comments. I dig the sound and think it fits well with the music / mix, but it would sound good a little more live as well. I actually haven't benn using much verb lately. I can't remember the last time I used verb on toms.
