Led Zeppelin- How The West Was Won

I bought it when it first came out but haven't finished listening to it. Not because it's bad, but because I never got around to it. I liked what I heard, though.

This is the definitive Zeppelin live. "TSRTS" was poor quality and even the band admits that. I haven't head the BBC Sessions, but I'm genuinely surprised you think they are no good. In any case, from all I've heard, 'How the West Was Won' is excellent. The thing you must remember about Zeppelin is that they never played the same song the same way twice. Mostly their live sets were extended jams, so you may not get exactly what you're expecting.

I didn't mind the choice of material on Beeb Sessions, although we didn't need four versions of Communication Breakdown and three versions of Whole Lotta Love (each with a different 20 minute blues medley) on the one CD . What bothered me most was the awful sound quality.

How The West Was Won does look quite interesting but I'd still prefer to hear a complete version of Earl's Court 75 or Knebworth 79. Landmark Zep shows the pair of 'em.

I watched a bit of Led Zeppelin DVD and shat my pants. And I'm not talking regular, I'm talking fucking shat my pants.

There will never be a band like Led Zeppelin, they are beyond awesomic.

All previous live Zep I've heard has SUCKED. Horrible.

However, "West" & the DVD are easily the BEST live items I've ever heard. Period. Sure, the "West" CD set is comprised of bits & pieces of 3 nights, all spliced & merged together, but it's awesome! The sound is STELLAR. Plant's voice was still VERY ABLE to land the high notes, the playing is spot-on. It's perfect, it really is.
If you have reservations based upon past bootlegs of the "Song Remains", etc., please, by all means, ignore them! This live 3CD set is the sh*t!

As for the DVD, well I'm still breathless when wathcing it - especially the first disc. They truly defined what 'heavy' was - or even could be. This live set literally proves it beyond the shadow of a doubt. Every ounce of the DVD is pure heavy, magic. And not to be missed.

It blows away Live After Death, for heaven's sake!
