Of the two days, this had more “must see” performances, on paper, including the headlining Crimson Glory. With a baker’s dozen acts set to play (as opposed to 10, yesterday), the show kicked off two hours earlier, at 3:30, with the operatic/symphonic power metal of After Time.
First two bands were on the main stage, before alternating between there and the adjoining Joint set-up, inside Reggies bar/dining area. Next up, Crossspitter, the black metal alter-ego of Sonja, front woman/guitarist Melissa Moore (as Donna Violence, guitar-only). Those not into the black arts opted for some high energy, neo-classical shred, courtesy of New Jersey’s Psychoprism, who packed out the Joint stage. Potty-mouthed, green haired Rachl Quinn fronted Graveshadow, the three women and two male guitarists making the cross-country trek, from Cali, while Oracle brought a heavy dose Of Symphony X style prog-power mix.
Mystigaard, featuring Chamber Mage bassist Ted Jedlicki, made their live debut, while Intranced added a level of professionalism heretofore not witnessed on either stage. Singer James Paul Luna (ex-Holy Grail) had a couple of costume changes (including a lavender cape!) and the band was more (inter)active than on previous occasions. Should hold them in good stead as they undertake their first European jaunt, this summer. Good luck boys!
With dual singers (one male, one female), Valkyries Fire added a bit of class to the whole proceedings. Local legends Slauter Xstroyes, fresh off their Keep It True (Germany) success offered some old school metal (and brought out their fans). Speaking of locals, Chris Black and High Spirits rose to the occasion, with a lively (dare I say high spirited?) showcase of fun, sing-along anthems. Good stuff.
Headlining the Joint stage, was Division, the long running Virginia/DC area outfit. As a last minute replacement, for the visa fiasco/canceling Heathen, veteran road dogs Seven Kingdoms were up to the challenge. A well-oiled machine, onstage, Camden Cruz & Co. (still no bass!) had many friends in the crowd tonight. By far though, most had come to see (predominately for the first/only time) the resurrected Crimson Glory. There’s no denying the classic catalog and now, the new line-up has found their footing onstage. Great to have them back.
Here’s a look at some of the images from Day 2. A full report on Legions Of Metal, 2025, will be posted in a few days. Until then, enjoy this glimpse!
