Let the bashing begin

So im still new to the whole recording deal...my first take on this mix was a complete waste of time...i went back and retracked everything and went about it a little bit differently...but theres still alot wrong with the mix,only thing is i dont know what it is lol...no compression cuz for some freakin reason i cant get the whole attack and release stuff figured out yet...idk y but its just something im not picking up on and its really gettin to me...it doesnt translate to other speakers too and im assuming that has to do with compression? not too sure..so anyway here it is...let me know whats wrong with it and any tips or whatever would be sweet..

Snare sounds buried. I'm listening on cheap headphones so I can't say much. Rythm guitars might be a bit loud compared to the rest, and you've got some weird volume swelling stuff going on when some of the leads come in/out.
