Well, it's only a few days before we start recording the new album, so for everyone asking when it's gonna happen - the answer is NOW!

I'm keeping a journal of our recording process in our NEWS section (which is that bit at the top of the main forum page just in case you never noticed! HAHA!) so keep checking back there to see how we're going!

Since I'm using this computer I'm typing on now to record, that means over the next couple of weeks, I'm not gonna be able to reply to any personal e-mails or anything. The other guys will more than likely be handling the band e-mail account though.

Fuckin' finally, though! HOOORRRRAAAAYYY!

Are you recording it with pro tools or something? What about the drum tracks, how are you doing them?

It's like Pro-Tools except for the expensive proprietery hardware that comes with it...

Most hard-disk recording packages are pretty much the same these days, be it Pro-Tools, Cubase, Cakewalk, Logic or Nuendo, etc. Some have more features, some are easier to use, etc.

We're doing it in Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 because it's basic and doesn't eat up much CPU overhead. We really don't need much more than the features CW9 has in the end so a lot of the groovy bells and whistles of say Logic or SONAR aren't really necessary for what we're doing.

The drum tracks are going straight into the computer (through a mixing console and preamps first, of course) played to a backing track and click track, and then the raw tracks are being brought back here for editing and processing before we add any of the other instruments. After that, we're back in there doing vocals...!
