Greg, give me 5 bands that you would like to see appear under the HC banner.
How about 33 (or as I like to call it, 1/20.18182 the number of the beast)?
Akercocke
Agalloch
Ajattara
Amesoeurs
Amorphis
Blood Red Throne
Carpathian Forrest
Darkestrah
Daylight Dies
Destroyer 666
Drudkh
Enslaved
Gorgoroth
Gwynbleidd
Ihsahn
In Vain
Klabautamann
Mgla
The Morningside
Naglfar
Novembers Doom
October Falls
Old Man's Child
Orphaned Land
Primordial
Raventale
Satyricon
Secrets of the Moon
Swallow the Sun
Thurisaz
Thyrfing
Vader
Wolves in the Throne Room
Granted, not all are a flawless fit. However, if Slough Feg and whoever last year's crappy Power Metal headliner was (their name is escaping me) fit the motif, than any of these bands would be acceptable.
I really don't know what you're expecting from this festival. Obama is not going to MC this thing.
Well, I wouldn't expect them to be able to lock down our next President, but how about someone from the second tier ticket? Preferably Palin. She can do her little "raise the roof" move while Ancient Rites plays or at least throw us horns:
Ancient Rites - solid
Moonsorrow - very solid
Woods of Ypres - no interest
Inquisition - who?
Metsattol - who?
Velnias - who?
etcetera - who?
Yeah... but you think Palin was a solid V.P. pick, so your take on "solid" is disqualified until further notice.
In the end, it wasn't the line-up that kept me away. And as I said, had the old school RCers gone, I would have gone. However, without them, the line-up alone wasn't enough to get me to Minnesota in winter.
