Just been watching This Is Spinal Tap for the bazillionth time, and took note of classic "Lick My Love Pump" piano piece that 'Nigel' plays.

It got me thinking that I would like to hear more PIANO ONLY instrumental music (or perhaps with some orchestral type backing, but definately no vocals) in this style. Sad, dark, yet flowing and epic.

Got any recommendations?

Funeral for a Friend includes other instrumentation, like drums and guitar. Killer song, though, especially when he starts rocking. Elton John is great when he starts rocking. :headbang:

OK, the Moonlight Sonata is more the kind of stuff I'm after (mostly the first section), as opposed to the keyboard/organ sort of stuff. Just pure classical piano.

Another example is 'Silhouette' featured on the first Opeth record, if you've ever heard it.

Any more recommendations?

Dream Theater - Anna Lee (Also has the other 4 instruments, but it is a piano/vocal based song)
Dream Theater - Vacant (Pnly piano, vocals and cello in the background)

Frameshift - La Mer
Transatlantic - Bridge Across Forever
Jon Lord - Wait a While (Beautiful song written by Deep Purples legend keys player with Sam Brown on vocals. She does a great job)
Porcupine Tree - Lasarus (Off the new album Deadwing which isnt out yet, but I've heard this song and its awesome... Its what you are lookin for)
