I like a lot of what's already been listed but one thing that none has mentioned is the sound of a firing "stalin orgel" (would be "stalin organ" in english). It was a mobile rocket pod used in WW2 by the russians which made a sort of wonderful screeching roar when it fired its rockets. The sound is often heard in war footage and I think Marduk sampled it on the PDM album.
