I don't know what it is but here in Scandinavia, live roleplaying is so big amongst metalheads and other good people. I've always had a problem taking this serious, running around in the woods all dressed up, jez. I kinda had an idea to get together with some friends, get drunk as hell and berzerk with our scary plastic swords.

We used to do that when I was into Live role playing.
We only did it with large steel swords...Yeehaw!
Had a few bruises then. Some had big cuts on their hands and ribs (after the blades were really used of course...).
Really macho sport. :muahaha:

Live role playing,eh? Don't mention me about that
I was also into that, and I think I still am,but no one puts up anything anymore where I live. So if someone would do something about it,I'd be running in the woods again wearing chainmail and sword in my hand.

Yeah,really macho sport indeed :heh:

i have ben into RPG for many years now... but not the live part... only the good old RPG style :)
but have allways wanted to trye live.. but there is never anything here :(

I never got what live role playing was about,
until one of my beloved metalfriends on the
internet tried to teach me what it was >:oP

I'm still not sure if I've got what it's about though...
But it sounds fun :o)

:D

i used to play pen&paper like midgard years ago...
once a year i manage to gather a few good ol' friends and we do some shadowrun, but that's it. i don't like this live-thing. but i would give gotcha a try if there was the opportunity

Well, now there's an interesting topic. Too sad I'm too damn tired right now, but here are a couple of cents.

I have been playing traditional RPG's for about twelve years or more and were in my first LARP about nine years ago. I enjoy both forms of role-playing, although I'm a bit more fond with the traditional way (the lazy bastard as I am). Live role-playing can be a lot more than just running amok in woods with a sword in your hand. Two of the last LARP's I participated were so-called conspiracy/politics/soap opera -games, where the main focus was in the dialogue between the characters. Very enjoyable games, both of 'em.

Zeanra: Where are you from? I'm going to my home in Kajaani (I study now in Lohja) for Christmas and there's going to be a Vampire-LARP there, plus hopefully some other LARP's as well, before I need to come back south (I know we'll play dozen's of hours of traditional RPG's between the Christmas and New Year, but a LARP or two could fit there as well...)

I have played table top Vampire the Masquerade a couple of times....i like it....i enjoy reading about any of the White Wolf publications like Werewolf, Changeling, Wraith, Vampire, Hunter..etc...some really great stories. I do not know a whole lot about it but i have two friends who know more about the White Wolf world then their own:lol:

Imagine if you were walking through the woods (don't ask me why, just taking a walk I guess) and you come into a clearing and see a bunch of people with chainmail on hitting each other and yelling "SLAY THE VAMPIRIC BEAST!" At that point you'd turn around, walk out of the woods as fast as possible, and try to block it from memory.

I really love RPG's, even though I've only just started playing GURPS :)

This sounds really fun, I have always been interested in it. Yes it is kind of cheesy, but I am into that. Too bad I live here and there isn't anyone I know of who would, and there aren't really forests... :(

Oyo, every time I go walking in the bush I hope to find a bunch of people with chainmail on hitting each other and yelling "SLAY THE VAMPIRIC BEAST!" (no, seriously!)

well, RPG is really fun, it is a great thing to do.. just sit there with friends and.. talk..
'cuz t is just talking and some dice throving, it is soo fun!

I'm from southern Finland, from a crappy small place
Hmm...Vampire-LARP,never been in a one. Those where I've been were kinda "usual",you know, elfs, warriors, priests etc. I don't know how good am I in LARP  I suck a lot
Damn, I haven't played the "normal" role play games for a while. We can't get your game group together
