Halestorm, the Grammy-winning band initially formed by siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale with guitarist Joe Hottinger and bassist Josh Smith. They are gearing up to release their new album, Everest, via Atlantic Records. Lzzy recently spoke with Finland’s Chaoszine about the record.

Lzzy: “Everest was such a journey of self-discovery, or self re-discovery. It was a process of me systematically shedding some things that no longer served me, making promises to myself, making sure, making sure that I was in it for the right reasons, but also saying exactly what I wanted to say without worrying about what the fans might want me to say. Or what the label might want me to say, or what radio wants me to say. This was very cathartic. I’m not the same person I was going in, and I’m very proud of that. Because of all of that, this album turned into kind of a darker record. It’s not a record of doom or despair, but it’s also not necessarily a record of hope. It’s aboslute, utter reality.”

“Our album Everest is a story of our journey as a band, full of beautiful endings and new beginnings,” says Lzzy Hale. “We weave a tangled web of melancholy, frustration, anger, and the vast purgatory of love and love lost. It is a rollercoaster of epic musical detours, great songwriting and completely unhinged twists and turns. Everest is an auditory representation of the 4 pillars of Halestorm. Let us reintroduce ourselves and invite you into our world…if you dare.”
