One person has died and four others were injured after a plane hit another on the ground near Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday, February 10th, reports Dennis Romero of msn.com.
The crash “off the runway” was reported at 2:39 p.m., and first responders found one person dead on arrival, Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio said.
Four others were injured, including two taken to medical facilities in critical condition, another whose treatment was delayed but whose condition was not given, and a fourth who refused treatment at the scene, the captain said.
Airport spokesperson Kelli Kuester said at a news conference that one of the arriving plane’s two sets of main landing gear failed upon landing, “resulting in the accident.”
The tail number for the arriving plane is registered to Chromed in Hollywood, LLC, an entity with incorporation papers in Wyoming that state (Mötley Crüe vocalist) Vince Neil is the president and director and the entity is based in Franklin, Tennessee; Vince Neil’s hometown.
Jason Green has since shared a letter from Vince Neil’s legal team with BraveWords, which can be seen below. It states:
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.”
“More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation. Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”
Mötley Crüe has also issued a statement that reads as follows:
“Earlier today a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ.”
“The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince’s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries.”
“Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon.”
