Mac G5 hard drive( I think?) beeps occasionally on startup, what gives?

Is this mother about to fail? What else would cause it to beep occasionally upon startup? I'm guessing it's the hard drive, maybe something else?

Computer is about 4-5 years old, never had any problems with it other than a failed power supply that was replaced free by Apple.

Ok, according to apple it's a "self test" dealie for RAM. It doesn't happen all the time though...only once in a while. Hmmm.

Also, my RAM is aftermarket (Ramjet I believe, (2) 1gb sticks). Both sticks are still recognized...is it possible that one is going bad/is bad even if it's recognized?

You should run a RAM test. IIRC the OS X install disc (or the Apple Utility disc, not quite sure) has some form of memory testing utility.
