Trendkill was my favorite.
I never really liked Far beyond Driven, although I'm Broken and Becoming are awesome. The later days with the heroin voice were badass

Trendkill is my personal favorite as well, and I agree with you on FBD. It had 3 good songs, that's it (I'd add This Love to your two)

No. Overrated, yes, but they are still an awesome band. I grew up with them and they were good tunes to listen to while I was frying my brain in later years.

Dimebag Darrel's death was good in the sense that I never had to listen to his godawful guitar tone anymore. Pantera wouldn't suck if it weren't for that.

I didn't get into Pantera (or metal really) until after Dime died, but I will say that it definitely did become a trend to wear Pantera gear after he died. I couldn't walk ten feet on campus without seeing someone in a Pantera shirt. It does get annoying when you ask these people what their favorite Pantera song is, and they can't even name a song besides Walk.
On top of all that, I hate how trendy it became to cover Pantera in the aftermath. Avenged Sevenfold covering Walk was a fucking atrocity, IMO. The only good Pantera cover I've ever heard is when Lamb of God, Soilwork, Devildriver, and Killswitch Engage collaborated to do a live cover of 5 Minutes Alone on 12/8/07 in Dallas. Great tribute to Dime in his hometown. Look it up on YouTube.
That said, does anyone know any other half-decent Pantera covers? BESIDES WALK! Covering that song has in itself become a trend, and I think it's fucking retarded because there are so many better Pantera songs that could be covered.
