'Upside Down' shows the “sarcastic prog metal” side of our band. Musically, it draws inspirations from iconic rock giants such as Deep Purple and Jimi Hendrix. We wanted to somehow bring those classic hammond grooves and open chords to the symphonic universe of someone like Danny Elfman.
From a conceptual perspective, 'Upside Down' takes place in the first few hours of night, where the main character's adult life begins. Everything has changed now, as much as he still sees the world through child-like eyes. He meets several night creatures who introduce him to malice and trickery, leading him to realize nothing will ever be the same. Altogether, the song is a progressive metal amalgam of colorful soundscapes and spooky atmospheres that you'd expect to see in a Tim Burton movie.
