I know the band has a few fans here in the forum... Magellan was a prog rock/metal project that was on Magna Carta and InsideOut.

Their guitarist/co-founder Wayne Gardner passed away a couple of days ago.

I remember enjoying one of their albums back in the day but never really digging deep into their catalogue. Regardless, it's always sad to read such news especially when it comes to bands that are connected (or closely connected) to "our" scene.

Wayne's brother broke the news a few days ago, and then posted some very nice few words about his brother:

RIP. :(

Big fan of the first few Magellan albums. They opened a lot of doors for me (musically) and really were one of the first "internet" bands that I had a chance to discover......

RIP Wayne.

That's really sad news. I've been a fan of Magellan for over 20 years and had been waiting for the new album to come out for a very long time. I'm glad Trent was able to share some context to Wayne's decision and didn't just leave it with the first message.

I've enjoyed what I've heard from Magellan through the years, and it kept slipping my mind to see what the band has been up to in the last decade. I forgot that they released "Symphony for a Misanthrope," and I had no idea that they even put out an album in 2007.

That said, it has to be absolutely devastating for the Gardners to suffer this loss. Nobody should have to suffer to the point where they feel that their only release is to take their own life. I hope that Wayne has found peace, but more so, I hope that Trent's and Wayne's respective families receive all the love and support they need at a time like this. My condolences.
