Saw this tour on the 1st night in Worcester and again for the 2nd night in Hartford. Motoirhead only gets 35 minutes, but as alyaws they kicked ass!
Lemmy made a comment about nobody showing up on time because when they played it was less than half full both nights. I find that an insult to Motorhead. People are fucking lame. I mean dont get me wrong, Im the first person to admit I blow off opening bands, but thats when they SUCK. Motorhead RULES!
The show in Hartford was my 33rd birthday!
Dio actually sounded better than the night before. It seemed like they were slowing the songs down alot though both nights. The only change was they did Last in Line in Hartford and Straight Through the Heart in Worcester.
I think Dio wasted WAY too much time with lame ass drum and guitar solos
I have to give him credit where credit is due, once again he pulled out a song not played in aeons -
I SPEED AT NIGHT!!!
This was the highlight of his set both nights. Only ONE Sabbath song - Heaven and Hell.
Watching Jimmy Bain is always a treat for me. He's one of those icons that just adds to the show. That guy is rock n roll!
Maiden sounded a ton better in Hartford, but it was the same setlist. The 1st 5 songs of the night will blow you away:
NUMBER OF THE BEAST
THE TROOPER
DIE WITH YOUR BOOTS ON
REVELATIONS
HALLOWED BE THY NAME
after this they play a brand new song called Wildest Dreams which is actually a pretty damn good song.
and then aside from THE CLAIRVOYANT which they havent done in years, the rest of the set was LAME CITY as follows:
The Wickerman
Brave New World
The clansman
(Clairvoyant actually goes here)
Fear of the Dark
Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter
Iron Maiden
Run to the Hills
Yep thats right, NOTHING from KILLERS
NOTHING from Somewhere in Time
and worst of all, NOTHING from POWERSLAVE!!!!
They didnt even throw us the usual 2 Minutes bone
The 1st 5 songs are well worth going to this show for. Hearing Revelations was the highlight by far. I was in 5th row last night, close enough to see all those goofy facial expressions Dave makes when he does his leads, which were of course RIGHT on the money everytime!
I talked to someone who was working with the band and he said they will tour again in the fall/winter with a different setlist. They have some pretty killer t shirts for sale for $35.00
There's an Aces High, and a Purgatory shirt to name a couple.
Aces high should have been on this tour. This guy told me the set list wont change at all on this US tour and that they said they wont ever play Rime again because its too long. Thats fucking LAME! Time will tell
