It was posted inside a the maiden mixing thread, but it certainly deserves a thread of its own!

I see it so far as a cross of dod and bnw with a powerslavey riff! And it sounds quite good. This being the leading song on the album tho, i think i might be disapointed. Maiden singles are normally up tempo and fairly short these days... and its not getting released in the charts as its so long which will probably be bad! The beginning is so eery when combined with the video its like a tribute to Iron Maiden who have recently died in a plane crash lol!

Great album cut, bad single. Why doesn't Bruce harmonize with himself anymore like on "Run to the Hills?" This chorus would be more epic with more vocal tracks. Not a bad song though, just... I hope there's some better tracks than this one.

Production sounds much better than DOD, although I wish they'd stop mixing Bruce's vocals so dry. We get it, he can sing!

The mp3 is obviously ripped from some webstream as there's noise in it that's as loud as the song itself. Pulling up the meters though, looks like there's some kind master-buss limiting happening on this track, although a higher quality version would be really helpful in determining that for sure, as we all know that radio stations notoriously squash everything.

Perhaps all they meant by "skipping" mastering is that they had their mix engineer master it instead of a mastering house. :goggly:

That cover is so "80s metal" it's not even funny anymore ...

Seriously, why don't they get someone good like Dennis Sibeijn to do their artwork?

Or is it that Maiden-fans are so stuck in lame 80s clichés that they expect some shitty artwork like that?

Cool. I like the dudes style, though i'm not sure i like all his themes. It definately would have been interesting to see what he could have done for the new IM cover, though i think it would have come across a bit too serious for their cover.
