Anyone remember Mama's Boys from the 80s? I stumbled on a DVD of them on Netflix and what a cool experience. I used to love those 3 brothers back in the day, and this DVD really took me back.

I wanted to buy some of their albums, but the prices are outrageous, and that's only if they are available or in stock. Couldn't even find a download of them, except for a vinyl rip of the first three albums that sounded like shit.

I don't to Ebay much.

No, Mama's Boys weren't glam. They were more blues rock/metal. Strongly influenced by Thin Lizzy. Totally 80s though, with the hair and the sound.

Here's some YouTube links:

Good band!

I got "Power and passion", "Growing up the hard way" and "Live tonite". "P&P" and "Live" are great, "Growing..." a little more AOR oriented. Good but not brilliant.

I saw them supporting Gillan (maybe in 1991) when I was a teenager and I remember they were excellent that gig, with the violin, the classic Thin Lizzy guitar melodies...

At that time I was obsessed with their song "Runaway dreams" and the violin solo from that tune. One of the best I´ve ever heard.

Excellent song! It was on the DVD I rented (and just bought from Amazon). It's such a short concert though, so they're missing some of the greatest songs like Crazy Daisy's House of Dreams.

For the record, I was only into the first few albums. I didn't care much for Growing Up The Hard Way. But everything before that was killer. I'd like to get that best of compilation called "Collection" but it's unavailable through any of the major outlets I use. :heh:

I've never heard of them. If I find any downloads I'll let ya know TSO.

Great band. Very Slade like in my book. Unfortunately one of the brothers is dead now. Cancer I think.

Yup, Tommy the drummer died back in '94 from leukemia. He had it as a child and beat it, but it came back to haunt him later in life. Sadly, Mama's Boys was no more after that. The other two brothers are doing acoustic folk rock (with an irish flavor of course) under the name Celtus.
