YESSSS!!!!!! This year is shaping up to be a can't miss show for yours truly. Therion, Manticora with Stratovarius and Angra extremely stong candidates as well (unconfirmed on those last two of course). Are you kidding me???

Dark One - can you FTP this Manticora then?
You got it - I'll see what I can do when I get home tonight. I have every single one of their releases, so if you would like to request a particular album just let me know. I haven't uploaded to the FTP site yet (I just started accessing it for the first time last week) so hopefully it will be easy enough.

Roots of Eternity and 8 Deadly Sins are are easily my two favorites. I know Zod has 8 Deadly Sins after just ordering it recently.

I want the latest boyee! I hear so many good things....the FTP site rules by the way. Yeah, it might belong to Zod, but the idea was mine, all mine.

I tried to post this earlier when UM was giving me the cold shoulder, but the new Angra album is the BEST prog/power album of the last 5 years -- this is absolutely official and confirmed by trustworthy resources in the house of JK.

Anyway, the point is, Angra *need* to headline. ProgPower desperately needs a PPIII type headliner again, 'cos the last two years have been so-so at that slot level.

Glenn also needs to get an underground US metal band from San Fransisco. If Northern Lights can get 'em, so can he.

Kudos on a fantastic idea. If Zod sees this and can upload the latest cd earlier, great, if not, I'll give it a shot later tonight.

I can't believe I haven't given that album its due listen yet. Either way, I'd be EXTREMELY excited to see them return and headline this year.

Hammers of Misfortune kick ass. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction Jay - yet another great moment at Progpower. :)

Cool stuff.

As a side, Jason and Zod, would you guys be interested in going to Toronto for the Northern Lights show in July? I mean, the Hammers and Woods of Ypres on the same bill? Only thing is, the rest of the bill is pretty mediocre (or not worth the trip).

P.S. Also, have either of you heard any Usurper? Their last album was quite well received. I have no idea what it's like but for some reason, I'm interested now. Call it a gut instinct.

Hmmm.... very tempting, a possibility if both of you are interested. My funds have been running pretty low of late, but a trip to Toronto might not be too bad.

Haven't heard 'em. Let me know what you think when you get a chance to sample it.

[EDIT] - Ali, can you upload the new Moonsorrow? It's a blind purchase for me, but I MUST hear this. Thanks man.

Two things:

1 - Manticora is MUCH better than I expected. It's pretty epic, and should sound great live. Only heard a few tracks, but so far so good so what.

2 - Stratovarius are headlining the final night. They better bring in something American for the first night, say Nevermore or Iced Earth. Jag Panzer would be cool as a secondary.

Also, looking forward to the mid-roster bands...they've always been pretty cool. Last years Tad Morose and Brainstorm probably stole the show.

Glad to hear that Ali - I knew they would be up your alley (in a non-teh ghey way of course). I think it's an awesome opening act to get the show off and running with their energy as well.

I'm happy with the roster already - Glenn could bring in Anal Blast or Goat Snot to fill out the rest of the slots and I'd still be psyched. :D

Just tried, but the disk quota is full. I'll wait for Zod to part the seas and then finish it up for ya.

As of tonight, disk space won't be an issue. I'm going to upgrade the site. Our available disk space will go from 1GB to 4GB. I'll send out an e-mail with the details.

Intruiging. I've never heard WoY.

No. Heard of them, but never heard them.

So far, the roster is a disappointment. Listening to Strat this morning...:puke:

Manticora should be cool. Their music should make for a killer show. But their songs are a bit hit or miss for me.

Therion. I have no idea what to expect from them live. I like their last two CDs best, but I'm not crazy about them.

Circus Maximus. Sounds promising, but I'm very surprised that a band whose first CD won't be out until May, is a #2.

It looks like Angra isn't going to be at PPVI. Glenn said that the lone returning band was a #3. Angra wouldn't be a #3. Regardless, he's now said that things have fallen through with the lone returning band.

Hopefully there will be some strong additions. I'd love to see Nevermore and Pyramaze.

Sad to hear that - the roster for me is already 50 times better than last year. But as we know, we'll have a great time regardless, but of course killer bands pull outstanding status out of great status. I think show wise, Strato will be high energy and full of enthusiasm and could have an Edguy or Angra like 2003 effect on the audience even if the studio stuff isn't all that appealing to you.

I think one thing's for sure, they will pull some of their best songs out for a 45 minute set, I think it will be fast paced and generally "hit" for you at PP.

I completely agree. I'm intrigued (which is good) but not stoked.

I really enjoyed the mp3's I heard. I think my appetite for a band like this is at it's peak at a festival like this - so I'm really looking forward to them and have high hopes. About the #2 slot, I think the #1 and #2 slots are very interchangeable and Glenn decided to go with Manticora based on their ability to get the show off to a high energy, rocking start.

I found this very interesting. I have a feeling that both Angra and Angel Dust were strong possibities at one point but that both fell through at various points in time (possibly even after one was confirmed and then had to back out). Angra would be the returning headliner that didn't work out and Angel Dust would be the returning number three that didn't work out. Obviously this is pure conjecture on my part.

Man, Nevermore would be awesome. They of course wouldn't have the "rare" appearance factor, but they would more than make up for it in terms of bringing a killer live set. I just know it would be something special and I'll bet they'd pull some memorable old schoolers like "Optimist or Pessimest" out of their bag of tricks for the festival.

Hmmm....you have any Pyramaze you can upload for me? That'd be killer. Thanks Greg.
