TREMONTI, the band led by CREED and ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti, will release its sophomore album, "Cauterize", on June 9 via Fret12. The follow-up to 2012's "All I Was" was helmed by producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH. In a brand new interview with Artisan News, Mark admitted that "Cauterize" wasn't his first choice for TREMONTI's new album title. He said (see video below): "I wanted to name it 'Providence'. I just thought that was a classy name, I thought it was just an epic-sounding name. Then I get on the phone with my brother, and he's, like, 'I just looked it up in the dictionary, or Wikipedia, and it says it's a spiritual boon.' I'm, like, 'Yeah, it's also… It's just something good in general coming your way.' He's, like, 'I don't know, man. People might go the whole religious route on you again.' Even when we came out with ALTER BRIDGE, they thought it was like 'alter boy' kind of thing. So I was, like, 'You know what?! Screw those people. I'm just gonna call it 'Providence'.' So I keep on going with that name, and finally, at the last minute, everybody was, like… I was the only guy rooting for it, and I don't wanna be the dictator in the band, like, 'It's my name or no name.' So I wrote down, like… I went through all the lyrics and wrote down at least a hundred different titles for the record — good lyric lines, or just titles of the songs. And I went over it with my brother Dan, who does the artwork. And 'Cauterize' just sticks out… it's just a word that sticks out. You've got songs like 'Fall Again'; yeah, it's been done before. You've got songs… All these other titles have been done before, but 'Cauterize', I've never heard a song or an album… It kind of sticks out at you." TREMONTI actually recorded two albums' worth of material during the "Cauterize" sessions and will release another full-length disc called "Dust" "probably within a year." TREMONTI has recruited Tanner Keegan to play bass on its current tour. It was announced in march that bassist Wolfgang Van Halen will not hit the road with TREMONTI due to commitments with his main act, VAN HALEN. TREMONTI's U.S. tour kicked off on April 25 in Orlando and includes stops at some of the largest festivals in the world, including Welcome To Rockville, Rock On The Range and Download. TREMONTI is opening some dates for SEETHER while also headlining shows in the United States.
