Marshall JCM900 4100 EL34s tone for you guys only.... have a listen

right, this is when i was recording my first demo back wen i was 17 or summat, now 24 (thru a yamaha 02r into a fostex d160 HD)

its PURE JCM900 4100 head with EL34s through a standard 1960A cab, close micd with an sm57, almost like the sneap technique (this was b4 i had even heard of the guy!!!)

it was a 93 model, i bought it 2nd hand in mint condition, and i sold it after an amazing amount of use and mint condition..look back and i feel i shudnt!!!

ive dug it out from my old collection, as i backed up all my old stuff on cd

just thought you guys might like to hear summat totally raw from this amp, i even have a foto of the rough settings (settings that i generically used on the amp!)

I think it would need a bit of EQ to poke out in the mix, but not too bad at all - I should really experiment with mine a bit; even just to get a feel for what its capable of.

haha yeah man, i sorta even knew what i was doin then!!. the volume is on at least 7!!!!

its generally a shit amp for smooth tones, but its got some properties that can really work well

oh and btw, the clean channel was fucking unreal!

Yeah, even though it barely gets used (6505, Mesa, Krank sitting next to it) - the clean channel definitely stuck me as better than average. Definitely noticable that it was good

yeah i remember using it and the clean channel was absolutely amazing for a marshall, rich, crisp warm, i really didnt understand it when i was that young!! id have liked to have tried the 5881 version though, as i think thats y i hated mine so much for od!

heres the mix i did all them years ago, before any of these plugins etc, i didnt even use compression on the tracks, just used a tc finalizer 96k!

its nice to know that i can mix better, however the mix reminds me of a raw kid learning audio engineering!
