Thoughts? He goes into some funky scales and shizz around the two minute area, so try to get through the J-pop til that part.

Sounds like what would happen if King Diamond raped Queen in a Japanese dance club.

Also, whenever the camera is spinning it looks like Marty is in the boss battle of a PS2 game.

Haha, that's the best description I've heard yet, lol. I don't know, sometimes he just breaks out into these insane lines when he forgets about how he has to force himself to be all J-pop and stuff. Like that bit at 2:03 for example, typical Marty. Sadly, you rarely get to hear that anymore.

Jesus.. I head this song before, at this point I can't lie to myself anymore.. I really don't like this!.. "Loudspeaker" was the last good thing I head from marty, "future addict" and "tokyo jukebox" are just bad albums. This one seems to be the same thing.

I think it's because he has such a big fan base in Japan that he's drifting further and further away from his roots and going towards that demographic. He's a household name in Japan and they like J-Pop..

I just hope he doesn't end up playing Blues or something in the end.

Marty is not drifiting from his roots. Marty is discovering new territory. While the songs do suck and the playing ability he uses now anyone could he is expanding his horizons and that's what I respect about him.

Marty has said himself hes a big fan of JPop so its perfectly normal for him to move in this direction. As for him paying blues, is that a bad thing? Why? I dont get it? Blues is a very agressive and ferocious music .... oh wait I get it, its cause its not all arpeggios and 64thnotes at 2020022020202020bpm ... thats right I forgot skill = speed ...o_Oo_Oo_O

I love Marty's playing, I'm glad he's still doing music as it's his passion in life but I can't be a fan of this. I can still spin a Cacophony disc if I want to so it's alright. Again, glad he's still playing.

this is designed for the japanese market, corny and cheese as they like it.
Sure it is.

He tried to break into the Japanese pop-rock market for several years. :yuk:
Maybe he is already in it... dont know

Paul Gilbert has done it much better... he even married a japanese girl! :loco:

Its the differences in the music they grew up listning to really. Marty always loved the exotic sounds and stylings of Indian and Asian music, he liked the odd times and the odd note groupings. Marty was always into that, it explains why hes pushing into Jpop scene cause thats where their influences lay. So it only makes sense that his flair for all things asian and exotic are leading him in the direct their society is going.

Paul on the other hand has always been into guys like Pat Travers, SRV, and the Beatles. Who all have a very strong american / blues influence in their playing. It only makes sense that he still plays that type of music.

honestly I think the only influences they really had in common were John McLauglin and Malmsteen. Their styles were very different, Paul was always bluesy / shred while Marty was the "way out there" / shred thing.

What a fruit pie. Truly amazing player but c'mon? Furry vest and Zoolander posing? I can't watch that...ever again.
