Maryland Deathfest XIII

I am sad to think about how much my 15 year old self would have loved to see Sodom (proudly wore my Persecution Mania backpatch back in 89) but now they actually do come to the US and I just roll my eyes.

Angelripper's too busy doing Christmas carols and Europop covers to write good music. It's staggering that people think Sodom is still cool. It's probably out of some sort of post ironic "it's bad but whatever they're old" justification.

MDF just became mandatory for me:

too many bands with logos you can read?

this is the first year where there are actually bands I want to see. Excel is the first one and Metal Church as well.

There's still about 20 bands I'm interested in, but most of those would be repeats, and that's very low considering it's usually in the higher 30's.

I was really excited about Amorphis for a second, until I read that they were playing Thousand Lakes. I'm only a fan of Eclipse onwards.

How could you be a fan of Eclipse but not Thousand Lakes? I would suggest revisiting that album because they are virtually the same style, as well as Elegy. In fact, I always thought that one album they put out a few years ago where they re-recorded all the old songs was kind of pointless for that very reason.

I'm pretty stoked for this lineup I have to say. There still isn't that MDB band where I will do anything within my power to go, but it's pretty close. Dare I say there are probably more bands this year I'm interested than last.

I much prefer Elegy over 1000 Lakes.

For the folks that have gone to MDF before, are there any parking garages/areas close the Edison Lot venue? I'd like to go, but the $130+/night is not something I want to pay for a hotel. I have found some hotels for 70 a night a few miles away from the venue.

Let me know please. I google mapped the area and did find some "parking", but not sure how close, how safe, cost, etc...
