Absolutely loving this. Will be buying this when it's out next week.

It's a refinement of their sound, but my god it is brilliant. Loads of classic rock and 70's Prog elements, I fucking love it. Best album I've heard in years.

It's dense, warm and they've finally gone the extra mile with the vocals. I could spend months exploring all the tones on this puppy.

I've been calling these guys the American Opeth for a while now ... I know they don't really SOUND like Opeth but there is something that these two bands share that puts them in a very exclusive club. They're unique

only thing is, I'm missing the harsh vocals a bit

other than that, this really is awesome so far (I'm only 4 songs in)

Holy shit the Czar is awesome.really beatles like sometimes :kickass:
though i miss the "motherpuncher" parts on this so far.
Sure it's a great record.

P.S: wait..Ghost of Karelia yeaahh...HEAVEY :kickass:

my god this stuff is good. I know what you mean about american opeth. They really understand and make use of interesting melodies in their music. A lot of metal bands are so boring harmonically speaking, these guys are doing something really interesting

Holy shit this is just amazing. Its exactly the kind of music I need at this moment. There's a lot of metal out there that's getting really, really annoying right now.

Wow...i know i just posted 5 mins ago...but...
:OMG: is all i can do when hearing this...That's just pure awesomeness.
Fuck my comment about the missing motherpuncher parts.

Can't really say enough about how good this is....I'm bloody glad Reprise ponied up the budget for this sucker as it's fucking brilliant in many ways.

Pretty cool, Oblivion is officially the second song I've heard from these guys (the first of course being "Blood and Thunder"). I'm sure the raw production is more tolerable without myspace compression, but I still would like it a bit cleaner (I just feel like I need to shave and take a shower when I listen to it, though that's probably also cuz images of their filthy selves always pop into my head  ) I'll check it out...

I love their raw tone. Raw, balls to the wall Marshalls! At leats that was their setup in the past. I'm pretty sure I saw some in the new studio video as well.

Well I freakin' LOVE the rawness of Primordial's "To the Nameless Dead," but everything is still really clear on it, to its credit - it's probably the myspace compression on the Mastodon stuff that's really skewing things for me...

Also, I would say "Watershed" is pretty raw (or about as raw as I'd want for them), and the rhythms on that are a JVM through a Recto cab...
