No, don't faint yet. It seems Mikkey Dee needs some days off for a show he must work on in Sweden, so part or the rest of the USA tour will have Matt on drums. I doubt he's up to the task but if Lemmy approved...

Matt Sorum played with the Cult and Guns N Roses. And I think VR?

Either way, he's a VERY good drummer. If anything Wyv he's too good to play in Motorhead. If that's a good thing remains to be seen.

It's kinda like throwing Thomas Lang into the Ramones - no question about talent but I doubt he would fit.

Seeing them in October. Not sure if Dee will be with them by then but you know what if Sorum is there that just fine by me. He also played with Steve Jones and Duff in The Neurotic Outsiders (a great underrated band by the way) and he plays in L.A. with Camp Freddy.

maybe its just me but mickey dee is a much better drummer than matt sorum

Mikkey is a much better drummer than Matt IMO, I didn't want to offend Matt fans. I well aware of his resume but I thought it was an odd choice to cover for Mikkey even for a short period of time.

Well said, the stuff Matt played with the Cult(got to see them in 1987's sonic temple tour) and GnR doesn't even come close to Dee's drumming on the King Diamond albums(got to see Mikkey twice with the King) Just my 2 cents

listen to some of the double bass work on the new albums

I agree totally. Yes in the beginning Motorhead may have done well with Philty Taylor and Pete Gill, but Mikkey gave a redimension to the drum sound. Again I'm not saying Matt can't handle it, just that Mikkey it's on a higher level. Not only his work with KD proves it, but for some reason Helloween call him to record RDCE when their then new drummer became sick. And with all due respect I don't see Matt drumming/recording on a band like Helloween even for a weak album like RDCE.

I just saw Motorhead in Montreal last Thursday (Sept. 3), and Mikkey was there. :kickass: We'd been told that Matt Sorum was going to be playing the show, and we all went WTF?

Cheers!

Agree completely. Mikkey is an excellent drummer and I'm really not sure Matt Sorum would be up to the job...
