Maybe it is time we get Astal Doors to ATL?

Just rediscovered these guys, and their discs are back in rotation even though we are only a couple of weeks away from the show--a time when usually nothing but the artists of the week will be in the car player.

Right now, "New Revelation" is stuck in my head and will not let go. "Waiting for the Master" sounds like DIO at his best.

(Hey if we can't get Wuthering Heights back at least we can get Nils...)

Keeping my fingers crossed to see if they show up on the video for XIII

As I recall, Astral Doors was announced at one point 3 - 4 years ago, but then they canceled pretty early on... the idea at the time was that they may have been able to play the following year, but then it didn't wind up happening.

Yep...and I seem to recall Glenn mentioning in an interview that he felt like the ship might've sailed on booking Astral Doors.

Quick google action - source

They may be one of those bands that ask waaaay too much to play at Progpower.I'm not positive on that, but I remember reading something about them having a high fee.Don't recall if it was this forum or not.

I'm still waiting for a redo on Astral Doors. Hell, I'll happily accept Wuthering Height again.

Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS have release their new video, for 'Child Of Rock 'N' Roll'.

The band state: "Our party video for 'Child Of Rock 'N' Roll' is out! Check it out. And yes... we're drunk for real."

Check out the video below:

He didn't really close the door on Serenity. He said that we shouldn't expect Serenity to be in the U.S. anytime soon, as it wasn't within their plans.

I'd love to see Astral Doors.

From the link above:
ASTRAL DOORS: "Had them booked at one time, but due to a touring situation, it fell apart. I won't say the band is on the decline, but I haven't seen quite the demand in the last few years. We might have missed the window on them."

I can think of a couple other bands that fell into the same category (in my mind anyway) that ended up here.

Never say never!
(Maybe a sponsorship for 14 is in order...if I cannot get Anubis Gate maybe Astral Doors...)

I wouldn't mind seeing Astral Doors live, but I wouldn't get too excited about it either. I've seen Dio and there's Dio Disciples if I'm feeling nostalgic.

I'd love to see Astral Doors live. And I'd feel a lot more excited to see AD than to see Dio Disciples. I mean, I loved the Dio band mainly for Dio's voice. I'd see DD if they came to my area as I love the songs, but Ronnie would be hugely missed, even if the singers in the band are very good.

There is more to Astral Doors than all these Dio comparisons. Nils Patrick Johansson's voice is in the "Dio style" but doesn't that much like Ronnie IMO. Much angrier most of the time.

It's a bit like Scheepers being always compered to Halford. Scheepers sounds a lot like Halford in his highs but his "normal" voice is quite different IMO.

It has as much to do with the songwriting as it does the vocals. Astral Doors writes an awful lot of songs that come straight from the Dio/Rainbow playbook.
