Just had a listen to this great album yesterday, and DAMN that drum sound is rocking! Did Norman use any drum samples in the mix for this I wonder, and HOW in that case?? I just ordered the Remixed & Remastered version of the album for comparision purposes :Spin:

Max Norman is one of my favs! And youthanasia is a killer album!
I'm not sure about sampling on it but to me the drums sound very real!
It's a petty that in the Youthanasia "Making of" video they don't show much of the recording process!
Let us know about the remixmastered version?!...

The original release of Youthanasia is far superior to the recent remix version in my opinion, the big difference (excluding the tempo readjustments, which served no real purpose) is in the guitar sound. The guitars in the original just had a little bit more sizzle and that traditional Megadeth sound. I think that Mustaine remixed two albums that didn't even need it in Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings because the originals were done quite well.

If you really liked the drum sound on the original you're going to hate the remaster. Especially the intro to Addicted To Chaos.
Though the fake snare sound on Train Of Consequences has a nice ring/tone to it.
