Mellow Krank lead wank improv

Brooks.. cool, thanks for listening! I appreciate it.

Those IA things are just my bar going "oo weee"... Its my Jackson SL1 and I do a big gurgle flurgle..when I pull it hard and abrupt it does those things.. the strings dont go off the neck.. the bar just makes them fret out... put 12-56 on a Jackson and do bar pulls and you'll get the same thing!

the hardest part are the finger bends at the intro. I tell you, this EMG SA in neck is very unforgiving!.... thanks for listening. =)

hard to get "air play" at this place -=)

Kranks are bad ass. I don't know why I see so many people on here bashing them all the time. I saw Soilwork live friday night, and they used them too. Sounded killer live. I just wish I had the money to buy one. hehe.

i like the way they sound as well. but the other guitar player in my band is sponsored by krank, and for practice and live he would rather use my spare 5150 II. in less than a month we will be tracking with both so i guess we will see wich sounds better recorded.

Krank on low gain, no pedals with EMG SA and gtr volume pot on 5.. That combination will expose ALL flaws.... I think I might like this combination.. just over an E drone and 6 Heinekens....

nod to jeff beck at one bend, and borislav mitic for one run.......

this forum rules.

Sounds good. I would have never guessed that was a Krank. Cool playing as well.

Yes, it was a Revo100 straight from guitar to amp with no pedals.

BTW - A buddy of mine in Chicago went to Gigantour recently and he said Loomis sounded TITS with his Kranks - more detailed and better shredder tone that Petrucci's trillion dollar Mesa rig.

the thing with petrucci's rig is that it's just TOO much. i mean, it was worse some years ago (falling into infinity anyone??), but with this much shit messing with your tone you just can't get a decent punchy tube tone.

besides, roadkings suck ass :D i know the common opinion is different, but as far as i'm concerned rectifiers are only REALLY good for that balls out metal rhythm (yeeees, they can do more, but not as well as they do metal rhythm)...thats why i think early 2 channel recs sound best. puristic, yes, but excellent at delivering that kickass tone they're know for, without having gazillions of switches and whatnots messing with your tone.

/rant :D

edit: back to topic: sounds great! not what i'd imagine a krank to sound like, really. i'm GASing for a 5150 quite bad right now, but the krank revolution is definitely nr2 on my must-have list. unfortunately there's only one krank dealer here in germany.
besides, i don't even have the cash for a 5150 right now :D :D :D

I am not saying this to bash Kranks, because I like their sound a lot from the clips and albums I have heard.

I know it is cliche but it is fucking Loomis and Soilwork! Of course they will sound TITS! :D

Nice sounding clip...sounds great...and I dig the EMG S and SA's too. Had some of those on a Strat before, and they were awesome.

I'll be seeing Nevermore live here in about 1.5 weeks, so I'll let you know what their tone sounds like.

Speaking of Kranks...which does everyone prefer: Revolution or Krankenstein?

Your clip sounds great, the playing is very tasteful as well.

However, I have to disagree with your friend. I just saw Giganour in Cleveland, and Loomis's rig while certainly not bad, wasn't great. Also, I noticed he had a Rectifier half stack miced up behind the Krank halfstack (I've got pics if you want proof).
On the other hand, Petrucci's tone was godly. And before I get hammered for that, Nevermore was my main reason for going to Gigantour (they are one of my favorite bands, and the kicked ass live), and I hate Dream Theatre with a passion, so there's no bias in that statement.

Pics please. :Spin:
Not because I don't trust you but I just want to see that. :tickled:

Loner - I think this forum is civilized enough not to "hammer" you for not liking Loom's tone that particular night. =)

I don't need photographic proof of said mic'd Boogie lurking behind Looms Krank gear, and I have no reason to doubt you... Interesting to hear.

I've been regaled with many a yarn about so and so putting such and such amp guts into this and that casing... Marshalls disguised as Randalls, Riveras disguised as Fenders, etc.

Hi, I'm a noob here... Great sounding clip ! I really dig the tone, playing sounds good too... Do you mind my asking what cab/mike?

Thanks !
