I approve of this rec, even though when I saw them live, they only had one guitarist and sounded a bit thin.

Best death metal this year is Dead Congregation for me. Tho I aint heard the Teitanblood record yet, so I could be wrong. Grave Miasma came up a little underwhelming compared to the demo.

Dead Congregation was '08, so it's safe to say that Ignivomous is probably the best death of '09.

Teitanblood is a Black/Death mix - I think I prefer the compilation of older material to the full-length (Seven Chalices)..can't say for certain yet because I haven't spent enough time with the new release, it's quite good though.

Another band to check out is Ekron Cult. I'll rip their album and and post it later.

Another new Aussie band doing brutal old stuff is Impetuous Ritual. These fuckers share a few ideas (and members) with Portal, but frankly, I dig it on a different level. Sample here.
