With Halloween here (Thursday, October 31), The Pulse Of Radio asked some of its favorite rockers to share their thoughts, memories and experiences on this scary holiday. HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio about one of her favorite early costumes growing up in Pennsylvania. "My favorite one was when I dressed up as Peter Pan because I was a little tomboy as a kid, so it was like, my parents let me do it and my dad made me this sword, and they caught a little bit of flak from the neighbors for that," she said. "They were like, she should be whatever the female character is in that movie and they were like, 'No, she wanted to be Peter Pan!' I'm just glad Arejay [Hale, Lzzy's brother and HALESTORM drummer] didn't want to be Tinkerbell -- he was one of the lost boys in that year."ALICE IN CHAINS drummer Sean Kinney admitted that he spent most of his Halloweens in the same costume. "I probably spent all my tiny boy years dressed as Peter Criss from KISS — 'bout every year until, what is it, last year," he said. "I mean, that was pretty much my thing. I'd looked forward to that. My sister'd paint me up in the cat makeup and I'd paint my hair and I'd go out there and bring my drum sticks and I loved it, you know. That was my moment, you know. I'd still do it."TOOL drummer Danny Carey told The Pulse Of Radio that he played one of his more memorable early gigs on Halloween. "I think it was probably '87 or maybe '88, and I was playing a Halloween show with GREEN JELLO, the PYGMY LOVE CIRCUS and HAUNTED GARAGE, the three kind of big psycho bands of L.A. at that time," he said. "That was a pretty memorable night. That was kind of when I had first moved to L.A. too, I guess, so it was one of my first really heavy L.A. experiences, seeing all the weirdos coming out of the woodwork."METALLICA's James Hetfield shared an embarrassing childhood memory about a costume he once had to wear. "I wanted to be Batman, but my mom made me a suit. You know, she was good at sewing, and she made me this thing, and I was like a giant tiger with the ears and everything. [laughs] Oh my God! There's a picture of me at school in the, you know, the school picture, and I got this goofy outfit on with the little whiskers and everyone else is like cowboys and stuff, and I'm sittin' there in my tiger outfit, and I don't think it was what I wanted to be. But that's what happened. [laughs]"Guitarist Virus from David Draiman's band DEVICE did dress up as Batman when he was a kid, although he doesn't expect to put on the cowl this year. "God, I was Batman and I loved it. Felt invincible, man. I don't think I'll be busting it out this year [laughs] and my stepdaughters are old enough where they don't do the fun stuff where they dress — you know, they're not little girls anymore, so I'll probably just — I'll just sit home and give out candy."
