Not an official video, just a HQ version of the new song. It certainly sounds to me like they haven't missed a beat. Thoughts?

I was really not looking forward to this cd with the massive changes they made, and for the fact that i've never been a huge fan of Rene's death vocals... but this sounds very promising. His clean voice is really good.

This.

Does anyone know if the former Mercenary guys are still doing music? I'd love to hear some more of Mikkael's vocals!

EDIT: Forget it, I saw this (posted in 2009):

Guitarist Steve Smyth (FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT, NEVERMORE) has joined forces with former members of BIOMECHANICAL and MERCENARY in a new, as-yet-unnamed new project.

The group's lineup is as follows:

Jamie Hunt (BIOMECHANICAL) - Guitar
Adrian Lambert (BIOMECHANICAL) - Bass
Morten Sørensen (ANUBIS GATE, WUTHERING HEIGHTS) - Drums
Mikkel Sandager (ex-MERCENARY) - Vocals
Steve Smyth (FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT, NEVERMORE) - Guitar

Did this go anywhere?

hook line and sinker for me phenomenal song start to finish the vocals LYRICS and GUITAR work are amazing, I am so stoked and excited for the new record to come out

I really like the new logo. From Blabbermouth:

Danish melodic death metallers MERCENARY will release their sixth album, "Metamorphosis", on February 25 via NoiseArt Records. The CD was produced by Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, VOLBEAT, NIGHTRAGE, HATESPHERE, PYRAMAZE).

"Metamorphosis", track listing:

01. Through The Eyes Of The Devil
02. The Follower
03. In A River Of Madness
04. Memoria
05. Velvet Lies
06. In Bloodred Shades
07. Shades Of Grey
08. On The Edge Of Sanity
09. Black Brigade

"The Follower" audio stream:

Regarding the CD's cover artwork (see below), MERCENARY states, "There's, of course, a lot of obvious (and indeed slightly cheesy) self-referential symbolism regarding the rebirth of the band in the cover artwork. But apart from that we felt that the motive of a phoenix was a really fitting expression of many of René's [Pedersen] lyrical themes on the album, as they deal with personal and existential crisis, overcoming personal obstacles and how we can sometimes redefine ourselves in the process of taking responsibility for altering the conditions of our very lives. This idea of personal freedom can be a very frightening thought for some, but it's actually a message of hope and optimism — we can always take control of our lives and free ourselves of inner or outer constraints, or at least take pride in the struggle to do so. (Okay, dropping all the intellectual pretense, we just liked the artwork because it was freaking bird on fire — how cool is that!?)

"On a serious note, though, we also felt that a simple, raw and iconic visual theme would support the musical direction of the new album. We feel that the songs are our strongest ever, they're no-bullshit, focused and straight to the point, and our good friend Don G really nailed these concepts with his artwork.

"Finally, we have also been searching for a new logo for many years (also before the recent changes in line-up) but we never felt that we found a good enough alternative until now. With the direction of the new line-up and the new album, we not only felt that we had as good an occasion as any, but we also really liked the idea of a less polished, more raw logo which could reflect the changes in musical expression."

According to a press release, "the new incarnation of MERCENARY displays a newfound musical focus, appetite and maturity, and while the material is now heavier and faster, it still features the characteristic clean vocals, catchy choruses and atmospheric keyboards and samples. (Keyboards provided by guest musician Kim Olesen of ANUBIS GATE)."

MERCENARY in January 2010 announced the addition of drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen (THE ARCANE ORDER, SUBMISSION, SLUGS) to the group's ranks. The band has also revealed that all lead vocals going forward will be handled by MERCENARY bassist/vocalist René Pedersen following the departure of singer Mikkel Sandager. The group said, "As everybody who has seen us live in the last couple of years is fully aware of, René is a real powerhouse, and he has so much more under his belt than he got to display on the previous album."

MERCENARY 2011 is:

Jakob Mølbjerg - Guitar
René Pedersen - Bass, Vocals
Martin Buus - Lead Guitar
Morten Løwe Sørensen - Drums

No Mikkel, no Mike Park Nielsen (Drums)... no thanks. Not that any of their releases since 11 Dreams have done much for me, but this track pretty much but the final nail in the coffin.

Anxiety alleviated. Was a big fan of the prior lineup and especially concerned over the change in vocalist. Quite surprised with Renee. Much better than I thought, though I still long for Mikkel at this stage. Like the melody line of this tune. Looking forward to hearing more.

Hi,

Please excuse the intrusion, but we just announced that we've licensed the rights to "Metamorphosis" in North America. Unfortunately, the earliest we were able to schedule the album for release here is 3/29, but we will have an exclusive bonus track in hopes of convincing fans on this continent to wait another few weeks instead of ordering an import.

That said, we're currently offering a pre-order in our webshop (http://store.prostheticrecords.com) where you can order the CD for $10 or a CD/shirt bundle for $20. See below for the exclusive design.

We're proud to welcome Mercenary to a diverse roster that also includes Holy Grail, Scale The Summit and Animals As Leaders, bands that some of you here have said some nice things about in the past. Lineup changes aside, we hope the band's fans in this forum will continue to support the group in the future.

Wow, I could almost wear the same-size shirt as in that huge image!

I've got a lotta love for Prosthetic, too. :kickass:
Just a bit smaller would sure make the whole thread not slide off the page. I hate using sliders.

Great deal, though. Looking forward to getting my hands on this.

Hi again,

Today, the band unveiled a trailer/EPK/preview for "Metamorphosis" featuring some snippets of other new songs. Please check it out at www.prostheticrecords.com

Thanks to everyone who's pre-ordered so far, and apologies for uploading too large of an image up above!
